I have received a lot of traffic on my article about WordPress as CMS lately and thought it would be nice to release a new CMS theme. It’s extremely easy to use and available for download now
Tips for using
- Use pages for CMS content
- Create a page named Home with page order 0
- Create a page named Blog and assign the Blog template to it
- Set Home as front page and Blog as posts page
- It supports sub-pages, only shown when the parent is selected
Does this work with 2.5?
I’d say: download and try, but yes it does. :)
This actually works as stated! Needs some polish, which I am going to have to figure out how to make a few side bars. But it WORK! So I am not complaining. First CMS name template that will work for a novice. THANK YOU!
Thank you for this themes. I will try this themes to my wp 2.5.1. I hope it works.

thanks for sharing…
Thank you – this certainly works as advertised! It needed a functions.php, but that’s easily added. I like the simplicity of it – I can easily adapt the design to what I need.
Great, but I’m confused a bit. The page you created as “Blog” is a static page. Does that mean Posts are not used at all with this theme?
Nevermind, I just figured out what your fourth point (Set Home as front page and Blog as posts page) really meant.
For others, you need to go: Settings -> Reading -> Front page displays and select the static page radio option, with the Front page set to “Home” and Posts page set to “Blog”.
Sorry for my slowness. Great basic, easy to use CMS template!
Need to change the head h1 anchor to have an href of <a href=”"> instead of just “/” for sites that choose not to host in root.
Well that didn’t work. Have an href of bloginfo ( ‘home’ )
You’re right. Thats now corrected in the downloadable version.
Loving the new theme, simple, clean, easy to customise.
Thanks!
This is the answer to a prayer–but how do you get comments working in the blog????? Somebody has said it needs a functions.php, but I’ve no idea how to take the one supplied with the default theme and make it work with this theme.
Aside from that, it’s working right out of the box.
On your requests some changes: - Added the functions.php - Widgetized the sidebar - Added comments to the posts
Really cool theme – I especially like the fact that it has larger text and a lot of white space. Also it is simple and because of this it works really well visually. Nice one!

Hello Martin. I was wondering how to change that YourCompany text? Regards
@dare: to use a image based logo you have to change the file logo.gif in the img folder of the theme. To use text based logo delete the logo.gif file and in the style.css comment out (put // in front) the line text-indent: -9000px.
hi there, thanks for an interesting theme. Trying to find out how you did the show subpages only when the main page is selected? Would like to be able to show the amount of subpages listed under the main page… something like MAINPAGE (3) would mean the man page has 3 subpages! Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Neil
Great theme! I’m gonna use it. Thank you a lot!
Hi….. Nice theme.layout too cool.

You’ll definitely want to check out the News CMS WordPress Theme from Bust A Theme.
@Greg, nice but that is not a CMS theme. It still uses posts instead of pages.
That is a great theme…simple, yet elegant!

I wanna use something really Professional for my Current Affairs website.

Nice clean theme… Thank you for creating it.

The download link is not working anymore.
Thanks for sharing this great article and this great theme (when repaired)
Thanks for letting me know, the download now works again.
Perfect. Thanks a lot for being that quick
I love this theme. Thanks.
But it seems the functions.php is overriding the menu order settings I make in the widgets admin.
In WordPress 2.8.3, I immediately get this error when accessing wp-admin/themes.php:
Fatal error: Call to a member function read() on a non-object in …/wp-includes/theme.php on line 387
Embarassing.
I found your post here: http://www.bos89.nl/wordpress-28-control-panel-error/
And simply did a chmod a+rx on the themes/ folder and it worked.
I’m sorry to have bothered you.
I love the theme. It’s so simple and easy to manipulate and it’s everything you need for a basic CMS website (which I do a lot of).
Keep it up!!

You need to check the access rights on the theme files.
Can’t download it – is something wrong with my connection?
Hi,
I really like your theme. Altered the graphics a bit, but my menu isn’t working…
Don’t know what I did wrong!
THX
When I used site admin to upload a zip file to my hosting service, the files installed in /wp-content/themes/cms2/CMS2. I got the same error messages as Martijn Stejink, above. I had to move all the files in CMS2 to cms2 using my ftp program. Then I was able to preview and install the theme.
I have to say It’s looking really good can’t wait to try it.
